12:50 pm - What are my kittens?

I have two kittens - Elphaba, a female ginger tabby who is (at this moment) almost 17 weeks old, and Sodpot, a male black and white 'tuxedo cat' who is almost 15 weeks old.

I'm wondering what they've got in them.  They've very different from each other, even when you account for the slight age difference.

I got the kittens eight weeks ago from a shelter.  I was initially only going to get one, but they were both so adorable that I couldn't decide.  Best indecision EVER.  They play with each other, keep each other amused when I'm at work, and they're both so funny and cute that I can't imagine life without them now.  I'm dying to know what they're going to end up looking like as adults.

At the moment, Sodpot is the apparently smaller of the two - until you pick them up.  They weigh about the same, but Elphaba appears physically much bigger.  She is taller and lankier than Sodpot, who is short and stocky.  She seems more delicate and agile, where he seems quite robust and boof-like.  Their faces are completely different.  It's fascinating.

Elphaba is more of a loner than Sodpot, but that said, she loves her cuddles... on her terms.  Sodpot is quite happy to snuggle anytime, anywhere.  He's also a bit more violent than Elphaba - he can be a bit of a biter, which I'm trying to stop him from doing.  He fears nothing, she's a total coward.  They're chalk and cheese.

So, without further ado, here are some pictures:

darabelle Here's my little Audrey. She was born on December 25th (will be exactly 4 months old tomorrow). I adopted her in Stamford, CT on April 7th and brought her home to Milford, CT two weeks ago. Audrey has three main loves: playing, sleeping, and her mommy. She follows me around my apartment and can't stand to be apart from me for even a second. If I am behind a closed door, she will most certainly be on the other side of it, meowing her little lungs out. She just loves being close to her mama! Audrey is a black and white "cowkitty" with pink paw pads and gold eyes.

Pictures!Collapse )

I have a few ideas of what breeds might be in her ancestry... but I'd like to know what you all think!

1:00 pm - WTF Two: Caspian

And now for Cat #2!

Name: Caspian, aka Moogle
Age: Just turned one
Color/Coat: White, no markings. The fur on his forehead grows in the shape of a tabby "m", though. Shorthair, but his coat is uneven--he has some parts longer than others, especially on his back, so he looks slightly scruffy no matter what.
Eyes: The right is blue, the left green. Definite tilt--his eyes and nose for a triangle.
Build: Long and thin, but not tall. He's not a Munchkin at all, but he does look slightly disproportionate. A rather narrow face with a long nose.
Voice: LOUD. Ranges from chirps to wails, and he is VERY vocal. Probably part Siamese or Oriental Shorthair--his voice is THAT obnoxious, as well as his face being long and lean.
Personality: Erratic. Usually sweet and affectionate and loves to be held, but prone to amazing tantrums if he doesn't get his way or is in an unfamiliar situation. Dependant--he's part deaf, and if he can't figure out where a noise is or where we are calling him from, he plops and wails for help. Knows the rules, but breaks them to see how long it'll take us to notice. Suckling tendency. Midnight Crazies at any given moment. Avid Bedmouse hunter.

Name that Moogle!Collapse )

ETA: Holy crap, I was poking around the site someone directed me to for my Dominic entry, and the Second Best In Breed for Japanese Bobtail looks just like Caspian as far as shape and expression. Only difference is markings and the fact that my Moogle is longtailed.

11:17 am - WTF One: Dominic

I have two cats... so, I thought I'd start with Doom.

Name: Dominic, aka The Doom. Named for Dominic Deegan.
Age: Four on June 9
Color/Coat: Black with white tuft on the chest. Had phantom stripes as a kitten, but grew out of it. (Was quite an ugly dark grey kitten at that.) Short, but with noticable tufts of longer hair inside his ears. Very fine and silky--he's the softest cat I've ever encountered, and even vets have remarked on his texture.
Eyes: Green-gold. Rather round, but with a very slight tilt.
Build: Tall and broad. Not especially long; a sort of square, boxy cat without actually being cobby. Weighs about thirteen pounds. Pantherlike overall.
Voice: Soft and creaky. He's not very talktative, but he will respond to his name. Occasionally, he tries to meow and nothing comes out. A very loud purr for me, but very soft for anyone else.
Personality: When he was a kitten, only I could handle him without him getting upset. However, he now loves attention. Friendly and affectionate--greets me at the door and is always sitting beside me. Tries to groom people he likes. Protective of me--he'll ignore new cats unless they make threatening noises at me(and only me--he doesn't care if they threaten my housemates). Will not extend his claws if I am touching him, though with anyone else he doesn't care. e.e Very intelligent, usually in inconvenient ways.

So--what kind of DOOM have I brought upon myself?

Hey all, this is your modulator person ^_^

Just wanted to say hi, and thanks for checking this place out! It's still getting started, so if any other communities allow it, please feel free to advertise and tell your friends. I'm thinking of doing community banners! So reply to this post with a picture of your cat if you want him or her to be a wtf_kinda model ^_^ You don't have to be an expert or even own your own cat to participate in the guessing fun-ness. And if you have lots and lots of cats as I'm sure I will someday, don't leave anyone out when you're posting!

2:12 am - Ayla, aka "Fluff for Brains"

This community sounds like it could be lots of fun! I have 7 pretty babies y'all can see, but I should probably post them one at a time :)

Without further ado, here's Ayla! The ditzy grey wonder!

Age: 2 years
Adopted at 5 weeks from Wake County Animal Shelter
Found at 4 weeks alone in downtown Raleigh, no momma and no littermates
Personality: Likes shiny things, carries around small objects, likes to be chased, complains at me in a high pitched voice, plays hard to get, flirts like mad by poofing her tail, rolling all around, and staying just out of reach, pretty shy and skittish
Growth: Grew oddly, back always grew larger first in growth spurts. Tripped a lot as a kitten, thought to have "developmental delays." Was short haired for a long time except for the tufts in her ears.

Chronicling her growthCollapse )

So... WTF kinda kitty is my darling fuzzbutt?
